Here at Delray Station, we’ve really got it all. And at the top of our list – summers in Delray Beach. The bustling downtown district, award-winning beaches, and a vibrant nightlife provide the perfect recipe for a summer you’ll never forget. There are countless activities, events, restaurants, and sights to take in, right in our own neighborhood. Let’s barely scratch the surface with five ways to make the most of living in Delray Beach this summer.
1. Eat Your Way Through Delray
Some of the best Delray restaurants and bars are walking distance and within a 2-mile radius of Delray Station. This summer, make it a point to visit a new restaurant when you can. And keep your favorites on rotation. Saltwater Brewery, Delray’s own craft microbrewery with a beer garden, tastings, tours, and rotating food trucks, is a must-visit. Another favorite is Park Tavern, which features a roomy patio and a menu packed with some killer cocktails. And for the best smoothies and acai bowls on a hot day, check out Bear’s Food Shack.
2. Make It a Beach Day
It’s no surprise Delray is such a popular destination. We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Delray Municipal Beach is one of Florida’s most popular and family-friendly beaches, with beautiful white sand stretching 2 miles across the Atlantic Coast. Its turquoise waters are breathtaking, and it’s close to downtown, too. Another fun spot is Atlantic Dunes Park, which features a boardwalk and a short trail through the dunes that leads to a pristine beach. Now the question is – sunbathe or water play?
3. Shop ’Til You Drop
There are plenty of activities and recreation in Delray Beach to make your summer days exciting and unforgettable. Downtown Delray Beach is bustling with charming streetscapes and eclectic shops and boutiques. The Ave has every kind of shop you can think of – so while you may at times feel like you’re in a swanky NYC shop, enjoy that small-town Americana feel of Delray Beach. The Pineapple Grove Arts District also offers a wonderful selection of local shops and eateries. And as its name suggests, the area is home to galleries, sculptures, and murals for the art lover. Not feeling a day at the shops? Rent some gear at Delray Beach Watersports and head to the beach for some fun on the water.
4. Events: Mark Your Calendar
Keep yourself busy this summer with a few of Delray’s best events. On June 8, head over to the Frog Alley Caribbean Festival for a day cruising the Caribbean with the whole family. Entertainment, vendors, food, and games make up this fun event celebrating National Caribbean-American Heritage Month. One annual event you cannot miss is the Delray Beach July 4th Celebration! This family-friendly event celebrates this country beachside with sand castle contests, entertainment, activities, and an excellent fireworks show over the water. Finally, the Dine Out Downtown Delray in August encourages you to discover the diverse dining scene in downtown Delray. Restaurant week, here we come!
5. Make a Plan
As you can see, there is plenty to do! Make sure you have a summer plan. Write a “Delray Summer Bucket List” with everything you want to do. Set some goals, like trying a new restaurant once a week, for example. Mark your calendars for events you cannot miss. Step outside of your comfort zone and try a new activity! And, most important, have fun.
Now that you’ve got us dreaming up summer plans here at Delray Station, excuse us while we go make our own summer bucket list. And be sure to check out the Delray Station blog for more fun things to do in Delray Beach.
