While a respite from Florida’s sweltering summer heat is always close with Delray Station’s lineup of resort-style amenities, there are plenty of other places to beat the heat in the Delray Beach area. Put an exclamation point on your summer – all while escaping the heat – with five of our favorite fair-weather excursions.
Duh. The Beach.
Given where we live, this suggestion almost seems too easy. But when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Or something like that. With miles of magnificent coastline at our fingertips here in Palm Beach County, you can’t go wrong kicking back, soaking up the rays, and getting your feet wet. Some gems: Atlantic Dunes Park, Gulfstream Park, and Delray Municipal Beach.
A Pinball Play Sesh
Channel your inner child with a trip to the Pinball Hall of Fame Silverball Museum. Play pinball on machines from all eras of this epic pastime’s evolution. You can even grab a meal or a drink while you’re there! You won’t find a more interactive “museum” out there.
Fun at Arts Garage
Art and music collide at Arts Garage, where you can delight in the work of big-name artists. Featuring emerging local performers and nationally renowned acts, this acclaimed venue’s concert calendar packs a punch. Tom McCormick, Ray Cashman, Magela Herrera’s Quintet, and Loston Harris Trio are a few of the artists lined up for September. Oh, and don’t forget about the visual arts, the Arts Garage’s Grassroots Galley. This month’s Transcendental exhibit showcases the work of Jean Wemyss and Dennis Dezmain.
A Mini Brewery Crawl
At Delray Station, we’re in the thick of a craft beer hotbed with two breweries within 3 miles of our community. Less than 2 miles away, SaltWater Brewery is closest to home and boasts a lively taproom and friendly atmosphere. Its staples include the Screamin’ Reels IPA and Sea Cow Milk Stout. Just over 3 miles away to the north in Boynton Beach is Devour Brewing Company, a self-described nano-brewery with laid-back vibes and, best of all, all-day happy hour on Wednesdays.
Get Your Art Fix Downtown
ive into the work of world-class local artists with a visit to downtown Delray Beach’s rich mix of galleries. There are more than a few to choose from, including the acclaimed Cornell Art Museum. Set in the restored 1913 Delray Elementary School building, Cornell showcases the work of artists from all corners of the globe.
